Thatch is without a doubt one my favourite traditional design styles. The Belgians do a lovely combination of thatch and tile, particularly on their farm houses, creating both a country and country-town feel. Image source: http://www.belgianpearls.blogspot.com.au

About Belgian Design
Belgian style is influenced by its neighbours on all sides, in the North-West by the steeper pitch of flemish style houses while southern parts of Belgium display villas in a french style. Belgian architecture uses a lot of wood in windows and wall panelling. You will often find a combination of tiled with thatched roof and natural brick façade with limed façade in country farm houses.
